B-b-b-braiding! I can do some pretty decent overhand braids, but underhand ones? I have to stop for a second and try and process what I’m doing each step. I learned kinky twists, a basic cornrow, a zipper braid, and something else I can’t remember.
You’d have died laughing at me trying to understand how to do a braid. I stopped and started a row at least thirty times. I’ve finally gotten the concept now and my hurdle is getting them nice and tight. The hardest part for sure was getting them to lay flat against the scalp.
Instead of posting a horrendous picture of my own braids, take a look at Chandelier’s manikin!

This one below is a zipper braid aka an underhanded fishtail braid.

We had a little competition to see who could create a nice braided style. I just kinda went nuts on mine haha. 1st place won a bottle of HCO leave-in conditioner, 2nd was a ceramic round brush, and 3rd was a bottle of OPI.
Yours truly got 2nd.

I ended up adding more before we submitted them to be judged by our teachers -

Rrrrrrrip! Hair removal! We learned brows, upper lip, and legs. Since I pluck my eyebrows regularly, I didn’t have anything to get removed, so I let my partner do my upper lip. A week later, and it still feels smooth. Yay, free waxing. I ended up doing a lot of other people’s eyebrows and legs since all mine came out nicely. Ended up getting stamps for 10 some-odd services.
We learned how to do a skin analysis on someone, determine their skin type, and the fundamentals of the facial massage.
Student services! Did facials on each other - the whole shebang - in the facial room. It was a nice experience save for the kerafole searing my nose and mouth area haha.
Makeup! Face shapes, the color wheel, theory. Lots of fun. Did an application on a girl who normally doesn’t put any on. She came out quite nicely, but unfortunately, I didn’t remember to take a before/after picture. :[
For the weekend, I attended Reenactor Fest/Military History Fest with my friend Laura. I was invited kinda last minute so I didn’t bother dressing up, however, Laura went for a 1920s look and she was super cute. There was a ball in the evening and I really wanted to do her hair, whatever the time period was. She was going for something 1930s, so I went to town. Here’s how she came out.

We didn’t have much to work with since I didn’t bring my kit and me doing her hair was spontaneous. Used hot rollers from the 80s, some light hold hairspray, and a few bobby pins to set the remaining hair when I ran out of rollers.

Sigh. I love doing hair. ♥
